El norte

Sinopsis:

Carmen and Lucía, grandmother and granddaughter, are unable to find their way back after an episode of Carmen's disorientation. Their surroundings— the city, the asphalt, and the rush— will be their main enemy in finding their way home.

Notas de intención:

The short film "El norte" is born from a series of questions related to the world of intergenerational care. In the maze of a person who is beginning to lose their memory, Lucía, a 5-year-old girl, is the only one who can help them find their way out. I wonder what happens when a person can no longer provide care. Also, what role society and the environment play at that precise moment.

Women and femininity have always been associated with the intimate environment of the home. Through the perspective of the characters of a grandmother and a little girl, I want to focus on the loneliness that comes from not having a care network around. The street and the city are entirely hostile environments for Lucía and her grandmother, and it is only through their caring relationship that they will be able to endure the situation. Because, ultimately, if they are together, they will be fine.
